Of course, we know that the Jewish leaders here were only trying to make Jesus look bad in front of the whole crowd which He was teaching. They really thought they had Jesus trapped this time and that there was no way out for Him.

What they failed to remember is what is on the inside. These leaders were looking at the outside appearance of a sinner while failing to reflect upon their internal hardened hearts. It is so easy to reflect upon what one sees on the outside but it takes true reflection to go down deep. How can we know what is inside another? Have we walked a mile in their shoes? No. The only one that we can know with reflection is ourself. And if we reflect honestly we will realize our need for a Savior. Do not be like the leaders in this event from the life of Christ. Ask Jesus to be at the center of your heart.
