The Only True Bread

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John 6:32-33 NIV

The first thing I would like you to note about these two verses is Jesus speaks in the present tense and not the past tense. And by the present tense I mean today just as much as 2000 years ago when He uttered these words. Also notice that Jesus says true bread. There are different forms of bread. There is bread that nourished the body. There is “bread” offered by this world that supposedly nourishes us, and there is the “bread” of false prophets. But there is only one true bread, that which nourishes the heart, mind, and soul. That bread is Jesus Christ. It is the bread which one needs to survive spiritually. It is the only bread that can take us beyond the confines of what this world provides. Trust in the true bread sent to us by the Heavenly Father.
