Why On A Mountainside?

Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. The Jewish Passover Festival was near. John 6:3-4 NIV

First note here that the Jewish Passover was near. This would have been the third Passover during our Lord’s ministry.

So why did Jesus and His disciples go up on a mountainside? The terrain on the eastern side of the Sea of Galilee provided many a hill. I think there is a second reason here though. Sitting upon the mountainside, the disciples would be able to see the size of the multitude which were approaching the Lord. This would aid them in better understanding the miracle which was to follow.

Does Christ provide insight to you concerning miracles which He performs? Do you see the significance of the miracles He has done for you? Let your mind, heart and soul be open to that which the Lord lets you know.
