The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well. John 5:15 NIV
There is nothing contained herein to make us think that the man was acting in defiance to what the Lord spoke to him. The man had been accused of breaking the law by carrying his mat on the Sabbath and had not been able to tell the Jewish leaders the identity of that man. And now he knew.
This man quite probably though of Jesus as a prophet from God and wanted to let the Jewish leaders know who he was. He might have believed that they would also choose to recognize Jesus as such since they could see that he now walked.
Jesus is so much more than a prophet. Do we share who Jesus is with others? Let us be the messengers of the Good News!
