Enslaved To Sin

Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, "See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you." John 5:14 NIV

Although the word later is not elaborated upon here, I would guess it was still the same day. The man was more than likely in the temple offering thanks to God for his healing.

The man was healed of his infirmity, but was he truly healed? What about his heart and soul?

Jesus’ comment to the man may have referred to a future physical ailment but what is more important is the reference it would make to spiritual healing. One who is enslaved to sin is not spiritually healed. This is the ultimate danger of being enslaved to sin.

Jesus tells us today to be careful and not allow ourselves to be chained by enslavement to sin. Turn to Him, repent, and be freed from the slavery of sin.
