I’ve born many burdens in this life,
And have suffered much pain and strife,
But as I grow stronger and learn more,
Life is coming less of a chore,
And more of an experience to gain
Wisdom, knowledge and understanding through my pain.
I was once a liar, and the truth didn’t lie upon my tongue,
Fairytales, fantasies and untruths were my daily songs;
But, one day I no longer desired to taste the pleasure of telling a lie;
So, I decided to give Jesus a try.
I asked Him to allow the words of my mouth to be of honesty and truth,
And that He give me the innocence I knew in my youth.
I was once was one to use much profanity,
And one filled with much vanity,
But one day I decided that life I no longer desired to live;
So, I decided to try Jesus to see if He could give
Me words of wisdom, knowledge and respect,
And give me an inner-beauty no one could imagine or expect.
He gave me a new talk,
And He put a spiritual swerve in my walk.
I once was a whoremonger, lying from pillow to post,
Never being concerned who I chose as the host
Of my midnight sexual splurges,
But I sought God to take away those urges,
And He took away that evil desire,
And gave me joy that set my soul on fire.
I once was a gossipper and backbiter too,
And didn’t take a second thought of the evil I would do,
But I decided that I didn’t want to live that way,
And took a chance on Jesus one day.
I tried Jesus in the midst of my sin and despair,
And He gave me a great testimony to share:
That if you are living a life of sin,
And you really want a change within,
Try Jesus, and He’ll make a great change,
And everyone will think that you are acting strange,
But God will have given you a new heart, soul, and mind,
And teach you how to be loving, forgiving, honest and kind.
