Watch Our Words
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
(Proverbs 18:21 NIV)

Our words have more power than we know. We can change someone’s life for the better or we can kill their spirit. We need to watch what we are saying to people and how. The inflection in our tone of voice is so important, too. This can reflect what we really mean.

The Bible tells us we speak what our heart is full of. If we are full of life and joy, we can build each other up. If we are putting negative things into our hearts and spirits, we will only bring destruction on others.

In this day of being surrounded by bad news everywhere we turn, we need to purposefully be filling up with positive things. We can read our Bible, learn wonderful truths of God, and see how His promises are life and peace. We also need to be aware of the people we associate with. People whose speech is wholesome and uplifting are always good to be around. If we are hearing negative words from people, it affects our lives in many ways.

Choose to be one of those uplifting people. Reading the Bible, listening to Christian teachers, or just spending time with God can have an incredible affect on our lives. When we hear the truth about how good God is, we want to share that with others. We need to decide everyday that no matter our circumstances, we are going to speak life.

Lord, please help me today to speak positively to the people around me. I want to speak life to others. Thank You for giving me the words. In Jesus Name, Amen.
