So many wonder is my God good.
(Does He do just what a good God should?)

Does He hear each person’s heartfelt prayer?
Does He know them, does He even care?
You’d think we’d know if a good God heard
But what is meant by that weary word?
If God were good would He only do
All of the things that feel “good” to you?

Some of our wishes are not good things
Lives built on ease, wealth or power of kings.
Comfort, success are the gifts we seek
But that’s the way to grow soft and weak
“Wish, wait and work” is the way, it’s true
Patience and courage will grow in you

What if your life has seemed only pain?
What if your struggles appear in vain?
True they may help you to understand
Sharing with grace as you hold a hand,
Showing the lost that you know their worth,
Just like my Jesus did while on Earth

Maybe World Evil is grieving you.
Wars and injustice and things men do.
Suff’ring from acts that are vile and wrong -
Does my God care, or is He just not strong?
Questions you ponder, deep grief you’ve seen
“If God is there”, you ask, “where’s He been?”

Since dawn of time He let humans choose
This meant that God had a world to lose
Always He knew that we would destroy
This world He made for us to enjoy
Evil is chosen again and again
Causing my God and His children pain

Yes, God’s response seems to take so long
Is He blind, cruel or just plain wrong?
No, He won’t take back complete control
Of things here on Earth till His family’s whole
Till all have heard of His love and way
Till the right time on the perfect day

I don’t know all of God’s awesome plan
Just that He cares as a Father can
And in my pain He is by my side
And that His love is so deep and wide
He sent us His Son to learn pain and loss
Knowing He’d die on an awful cross

He went to Hell but rose strong and true.
Left us His Spirit for all we do.
Helping us daily to grow and love.
If we on Earth reflect God above
Walking in Truth, loving like He would
We’ll show His world that our God is good.
