Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name. But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person. John 2:23-25 NIV

Jesus knows the true heart of every man, woman and child. So, why would He not entrust Himself to those who believed in His name, seeing His signs during the Passover Festival? Was there faith in Him true and unmovable. I think of those who followed Christ on His triumphant entry into Jerusalem the week before His crucifixion. How many of those might have been in the crowd screaming “Crucify Him", spurred on by the Jewish leaders? Only one who has totally committed their life to the Lord is worthy of trust. Even those who are at times will sin and deny. Think about the disciples fleeing in the garden and Peter’s three denials of Christ. Now, does Christ’s not putting His trust in man seem more prudent?
