"One who knows and knows that he knows
Is a genius, follow Him
One who does not know and does not know
that he does not know is a fool, leave him
But he who does not know and knows that
he does not know is a child, teach him."

The above quote pumped up in my mind at the commencement of writing this piece. I came across these words many years ago, I can't remember the author and there could be a difference or two in the words used or arrangement. One thing I am sure of is that the truth remain unchanged.
Learning is a continuous and a never ending process. There is always something to learn. Learning belongs to only those who do not know and knows that they do not know and they are willing learners.

Let me state here that sometimes, a student may know more than his teacher, most expecially in spiritual matters. How can I confirm or prove this?
The Psalmist of Israel in Psalm 119:99 states
"I have more understanding than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my
meditation.". NEW KING JAMES VERSION (NKJV)

This is a reason every child of God must not become stagnant but improve himself to remain valuable and relevant in his area of specialisation most expecially, he must stay connected to His Maker and His word.

A student who has more understanding than his teacher need to be humble still. Jesus Christ is our good example!
Although, he knows all things, at age twelve. He saw reasons to be in the place of His father's business to learn.
The Scriptures declares,
"... they found Him in the temple, sitting in the
midst of the teachers, both listening to them and
asking them questions." Luke 2:46. (NKJV).

Following His example, a good learner must:
1.Sit to learn from a teacher(s). To sit create room for patient learning. It connotes there is no haste. It means you have created some time to know what you do not know.

2.Listening is a very important part of learning. To fail to patiently listen is to fail to learn. You need to hear what the teacher has in store for you. Jesus is a very good learner to show us an example. That is why He was a great teacher. He spent a lion share of His earthly ministry to teach those ready to learn.

3. Ask questions. Every good learner must have good questions to ask his teacher. This, among others, has two benefits. One, it shows that he has an understanding of what he was taught, Luke 2:47.

Two, it affords the teacher to know the extent of his understanding of the subject or topic. He, the teacher will shed more light, if need be.

4. Answers. A good learner should be ready to answer his teacher's questions as well. This will further prove the extent of his understanding of subject discussed. In the case of Jesus Christ, it is recorded,

"And all who heard Him were astonished at His
understanding, and answers". Luke 2:47.

Beloved, considering these four points or lessons to learn from Jesus Christ, are you a good learner? Try as much as possible to be one. It will surely enhance your knowledge and understanding and you will exhibit the glory of the Lord.
Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
