Lord God,
During this time of crisis and uncertainty,
We grieve over all those who have been affected by the virus,
And the strain it places on our healthcare system,
We grieve over the many lives lost,
We grieve over the many jobs lost,
And the increasing pressure on the economy,
We grieve over the increasing stress and anxiety on families,
And the growing loneliness,
As we are increasingly forced to remain confined at home,
This virus is a reminder that our lives are fragile and fleeting,
And that all of our earthly securities are an illusion,
So Lord, please comfort us and grant us your peace,
Remind us that you remain sovereign over all the world,
And that even through this difficult time,
You will never fail to work out your purposes in our lives,
Remind us that our ultimate sense of security is found in you,
Please teach us to lift up our eyes to Christ,
And as we contemplate our own mortality,
Teach us to hope in Christ evermore,
For the day when all sickness will be gone forever,
We pray for guidance, wisdom and strength,
As we seek to live for Christ with the situation and resources we have been given,
Please give us the wisdom to keep one another safe and healthy,
And while so many around us are losing hope,
Help us to be a light to those in need,
Teach us to spread your love and speak the truth of the gospel,
In whatever ways that are available to us,
We pray that during this time when many in the church can’t meet in person,
Help us not to withdraw from one another,
But teach us to be constant in prayer for one another,
And to use whatever resources we have to keep building each other up,
I thank you that you are more powerful than any pandemic,
And I pray that even as this virus continues to spread,
Your gospel would spread even deeper and bear fruit in more and more lives.
