"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip. John 1:46 NIV

What good can come out of Nazareth? We read in Mark 6 of Jesus’ amazement at the lack of faith of those in His hometown. We can see in Luke 4 of how the residents of the city were going to try and push Him off a large hill because of His sharing in the synagogue. This all of course would come after Nathanael’s comment, but, as a resident of a neighboring city, he did not think much of the reputation of Nazarenes.

I believe that Phillip’s response to his friend was given with conviction. We don’t know how much time transpired between Christ telling Phillip to follow Him and Phillip seeking out Nathanael, but with Christ, not much time is necessary to have conviction within the heart.

As you share with others about Christ, do you offer an invitation to “come and see?” One need not necessarily use these words, but we should make known to those with whom we share the Good News that Jesus waits for anyone who comes to Him with a heart seeking Truth. Share an invitation for coming to the Lord with others.
