But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
(1 John 4:8 NLT)
Love is an area that, if we are not careful, we can let slip away. We can get distracted with the cares of this world and not realize we are losing our love for others. We need to be replenished by truly looking into the face of God because He is love.
We would not even know what love was or how to give it to others without the love God has shown us. Jesus even told the people when asked that one of the greatest commandments is to love your neighbor.
Loving the lovable is easy to do, but when it comes down to loving the ones who are evil or do evil things, that may not be so easy. It isn’t hard to love the evangelists who put their love to the test by taking the Gospel to the entire world, but is it so easy to love the people who are killing others with no remorse?
When our resources run low on love and we forget that we are to love everyone, we can be replenished by giving our hurts and wounds over to God. By allowing God to show His love for us, we can release our love for humanity.
Dear Lord, please help me remember that You loved me first so that I can love others. Today help me love everyone I see with Your love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
