When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” Mark 16:1-3 NIV

As the Sabbath had passed, the three women very early headed out to the tomb to properly anoint the body of the Lord. As they approached the tomb, they wondered who would roll the heavy stone away for them. It had probably taken at a minimum two men to roll the stone in front of the tomb’s entrance. Who would take it away for them? Would anyone be there at that early hour to provide assistance to them?

Today, I ask, who will roll away the stone that blocks the tomb to our problems, to our concerns, to that which keeps us from truth? There is but one answer. The one who was raised from that tomb is the one who can roll away the stone that blocks us in our pursuit of God. It is God Himself, God’s Son, Jesus Christ. Do not let any “stone” discourage you from seeking the truth. Your soul yearns for the truth which only the Savior can provide. Believe in Him! He will remove the stone for you!
