The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Mark 15:38 NIV

The Jewish temple contained three sections. First there was the outer court, to which all were welcome. Next there was the Holy Place which ministering priests went into to burn incense and to trim lamps. Lastly there was the Holy of Holies. The only one who was allowed to enter therein was the high priest, and only once a year on the Day of Atonement. When entering he was to carry the blood of the sacrifice. Any disobedience to this resulted in death for the offender. Between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies was the veil. This veil obviously could only be lifted and passed by one man and only on the proper day each year.

How symbolic that Christ, God’s only Son, through His death brought about the tearing of the veil from top to bottom, bringing God into a closeness with His people which had symbolically been available only to the high priest prior to Christ’s death. Does the veil still separate you from God? Approach Christ and that veil shall be removed as you spiritually become united to the Savior!
