Loud Cry, Last Breath

With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. Mark 15:37 NIV

Let’s take a look at two other accounts of the last breath of Christ. In John 19:30 we see that after Jesus received the sour wine He said “It is finished.” His mission to be the ultimate of sacrifices, the one required for the salvation of mankind was now complete as He took His final breath. In Luke 23:46 we read that Jesus cried out in a loud voice “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Even as He took His last breath, His obedience and faith in the plan of the Father were still present within our Lord.

Oh, how blessed would we be in our final breath to say that we commit our spirit into the hands of Jesus. Yes, then to be welcomed to our eternal home by our Lord and Savior.

That would be a blessed final thought indeed!

Roland, I was curious as to how many recorded "final words" of our past Presidents (supposed to represent all people) were parallel, and surprisingly they were few:
"I die hard, but am not afraid to go."
~~ George Washington, US President, d. December 14, 1799
"Oh, do not cry - be good children and we will all meet in heaven."
~~ Andrew Jackson, US President, d. 1845
"This is the last of earth! I am content."
~~ John Quincy Adams, US President, d. February 21, 1848
