Believe What?

“Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Mark 15:32a NIV

So,what would these men have believed if Christ had come down from the cross? Almost assuredly they would have only thought of it like any other miracle which they had seen Christ perform. Certainly, they would not have then believed that Christ truly was the Son of God and the Messiah. To believe that would have taken away all their perceived authority. These men believed that they already had received their salvation in being the leaders of the Jewish people. Sadly, how very wrong they were in their thinking. They had deceived themselves. They truly knew nothing about God and their need for repentance and their need for a Savior. Do not allow your mind to be closed like that of these men. Believe in Christ and all He did to pay for your salvation!

Excellent remarks about those who feel little obligation to the One who gave everything. One Israeli recently remarked when asked just how God had placed him into power: "God had nothing to do with it", he replied. Same heart as those people at the cross.
