Who To Save?

In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! Mark 15:31 NIV

These leaders were wrong in what they said. Jesus could have saved Himself. But instead He chose not to do so that mankind might receive salvation through Him. Jesus throughout His life chose not to put Himself first. Instead He made Himself to be a servant, first to the will of the Heavenly Father, and second to the needs, both spiritual and physical of mankind. The Son of God did not seek for Himself, but for others.

This is why it is not easy to follow Christ. We are told by society to think first of self. Our Lord and Savior did not do this and neither should we. We must lose our life (in terms of human wants and desires) that we might find it (in following the Lord and receiving the kingdom of God as a child of God).

Yes, these men were certainly wrong in what they said about Christ as they mocked Him amongst themselves.
