Quite often the most effective form of destruction comes from within. Jesus offers to each of us a means to the destruction of enslavement to sin. He did not command that sin be taken away. Instead He took upon Himself the sin of all mankind. He became sin for our sake so that when He died there could be death to enslavement to sin. But Christ had to be at the center of sin, at its core. So, His crucifixion between two rebels is a symbol of Him being at the center of sin. Although He was blameless, without sin, He was centered in sin, that in His death, enslavement to sin could be destroyed. A blameless man in the middle. The perfect plan of the heavenly Father.
