What The Truth Bought Him

The high priest tore his clothes. “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?” They all condemned him as worthy of death. Mark 14:63-64 NIV

So, sacred truth uttered by our Lord brought Him a conviction of death.

Acceptance of this truth brings death to us as well, the followers of Christ. To accept Christ, one must die to self and to that which belongs to this world. We can either accept that which is truth, or we can be lured by the deceit of this world, that which promises everything, but which cannot deliver anything eternal, except for eternal torment and banishment from the presence of God.

The truth is simple, yet the many deny it. It just does not fit into their plan of how life is to be lived. They say, “How can the truth be to sacrifice?” Their eyes and mind are closed to truth. Let not our minds, hearts and souls be deterred from following our Lord, the One who provides true meaning to eternal life.
