A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, he fled naked, leaving his garment behind. Mark 14:51-52 NIV

Who was this man? Some believe it might have been the gospel writer Mark himself. Others believe it might have been Lazarus, wearing the garment that surrounded him when he was buried in the tomb. Others speculate that it might have been the property owner of the garden. Still others believe it might have been someone staying near the garden who wished to investigate all the noise that was occurring. Whether or not it was a follower of Christ, as soon as an attempt was made to seize him, he quickly left the area, leaving His garment behind.

Do we realize how often we leave ourselves naked when we flee from Christ? When we flee from Christ, we leave ourselves naked to this world and all of its allurements. We are quite susceptible then and can quite easily be exposed. Keep on your Christian clothing, following in the steps of the Master. He is the last one you should ever wish to flee from.
