Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!” Mark 14:41-42 NIV

There are quite a few incidents of three mentioned in the New Testament. There are the three people whom Christ raised from the dead. There is the occurrence of three times Christ telling His disciples that He would be killed but rise again. There are the three days which Christ spent in the tomb. There are the three times that Peter denied Christ. And, what about the three times that Christ asked Peter if he loved Him more than all the others. Three times the disciples fell asleep in the garden. And of course, we have three synoptic gospels. Of course this is not an exhaustive listing of the number three within the New Testament.

So what significance can we attach to this fact? Well, sometimes it takes more than once for the true importance of an event to be fully understood. Even with more occurrences there is much about Christ we will not fully comprehend until we are with Him for eternity in Heaven. Be glad for the various three time occurrences of revealing of events within the Bible. The entire Bible is the Word of God. Relish it!
