Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him. Mark 14:39-40 NIV

The anguish that Christ felt that night must have been so excruciating. He goes back and prays a second time, saying what He had said the first time.

When He returns to the disciples He finds them asleep again. So much for keeping watch and praying. What do we do when we fail at listening to what Christ tells us? We fall into sin. We have no valid excuse for it. It occurs because the weakness of the flesh overcame being watchful and praying. The disciples did not know what to say to Christ when He found them asleep the second time. So, what do we say to Christ when He catches us sleeping? Hopefully we are repentant, asking Him for forgiveness. We ask Him to strengthen us where we are weak. We know that only in Christ are we strong. Of our own efforts, certainly we shall fail. Live your life in the strength of Christ. Be alert and pray often.
