Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”  Mark 14:35-36 NIV

Jesus is the only one who is both God and man. We see this quite readily from this time in the garden. He is human in that He prayed that if it were possible He wanted the Father to take the cup of suffering away from Him. He realized that this would be an extreme suffering, far beyond that which had been endured by anyone before or after Him. Right after these words though, we see the divinity, the deity of Christ. He tells the Father that His want is the Father’s will and not His own. Christ was totally submissive to the Father, even unto death. He knew He was destined to die for the salvation of those who would believe in Him. He knew there was no other way for mankind to be saved. There was no back-up plan. So, you must truly believe that Jesus Christ was both man and God. He is your salvation!

Roland, I like how you explain the difference between God as man and the deity of God. This is a remarkable example for us to follow when battling with our will verse the will of God. His will always gain the greatest rewards. It empowers the relationship we have with Him.
