Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. Mark 13:5-6 NIV
Deception runs rampant throughout our world. Many come forth, offering a better life, a life full of true meaning, a life that is satisfying and fulfilling. They use books, and seminars to share their word. Some even claim to be a Christian. They do all have one thing in common though…they are deceiving. They preach a life of prosperity, particularly to materialistic things. Christ certainly did not preach this manner of living. He tells us that we must deny our very self, take up our cross, and follow in His steps. We must die to self in order to be reborn in the Spirit. People want to believe that it is OK to be prosperous, but the prosperity they seek is the wrong kind. Christ desires that we spiritually be prosperous, enlightened and indwelled by the Holy Spirit. Too many people are being deceived, The deceivers often are so good that they even deceive themselves. Do not allow yourself to be deceived. Deceivers seek first and foremost for themselves. Seek to prosper in the ways of the Lord!
