As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?” Mark 13:3-4 NIV
Here we see the disciples more at their senses. They knew that which Christ utters shall come to pass. Knowing that fact they wished to be enlightened as to when these things would occur and what signs would signify them occurring.
I am reminded of a famous statement made by a former U.S. president John F. Kennedy. He said “Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country.” Applying this principle to our relationship with Jesus Christ, might we not take the approach of saying “Christ, may I rather than asking what you can do for me, I ask what can I do for you?” Christ has already done so much for us. Without Him we would have no salvation. Eternity would be spent apart from God in a fiery pit. God has much for us to do for Him to advance the kingdom of God. There are many lost souls whose eternal fate hangs in the balance. We must share the word of God. It is our calling. Serve the Lord in all that you do!
