Jesus replied, “I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. John’s baptism—was it from heaven, or of human origin? Tell me!” They discussed it among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will ask, ‘Then why didn’t you believe him?’ But if we say, ‘Of human origin’ ” (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.) So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.” Mark 11:29-33 NIV
Jesus was ready to reply to the question asked. All it required was an answer to one simple question. What is our response to Christ when He questions us? Are we like these men and just provide an untruthful “I don’t know.”, or are we honest with our Savior? When Jesus questions us, He wishes to get to the heart of the matter. He wants us to think about our true motives. He does this for our own good, though we might choose not to believe so. Are you ready to be questioned by Christ? Know that in so doing He reveals true love for you. He wants you to remain on the narrow path which leads to Him. If you truly belong to Christ, you will not be afraid to be questioned by Him.
