Luke 15:11 *
From the confines of the father's house
He sought bright lights and liberty
If "grass was greener on the other side"
There he could change his identity

Shelter, love and security
To him, had become mundane
He was eager to venture onto
The city's street, - called main

At first the thrill seemed to suffice
As he explored the unknown
It seemed the simple life he knew
At last - he had outgrown

This newfound thrill was concise
As the glamour began to fade
Soon he had "second-thoughts"
Realizing the great mistake he made

I will return to my father's house
Repenting of the deeds I've done
If only a servant he'll let me be
I'm no longer worthy to be his son

His father welcomed him with joy
A celebration was in store
My son was lost but now is found
And now he has returned to my door

Today, the Savior reaches out
To those who have gone astray
He beckons the wayward to return
Lest they would be a castaway
