I saw it there beside the road
The lifeless form of a little bird
I knew not the cause of it's demise
Or just when, - - it occurred

The first thing that came to my mind
Were words that Jesus did declare
Each one that fell, He knew about
Of every detail, - God is aware

I marvel at the contrast He used
To depict how much He cares
The magnitude of love He ascribed
On our heads, He counts every hair

It's no wonder that I could ne'er attain
Or merit favor in His eye
But by the Blood, from Calvary's cross
He freely gave, what I could never buy

These bodies are His creation
He is aware of joy and pain
Nothing ever "takes Him by surprise"
When we stumble, He lifts us up again

So when problems arise and trouble me
Through it all, He understands
Then I remember the fallen sparrow
Lord everything, - is in Your hands
