Impress Of A Child

A child taken into hands,
          Gentle hands;
A face beaming into a little patent face;
A murmuring flow of substance,
          An unseen hope given,
          Answer to a pitying cry:
          Love.

A child taken into hands:
A soul beaming into a
          Little latent lad's whimper;
A mind touched on both sides,
          And another
          And another
          Nearby.

...I was the other 'nearby' that was touched by what I saw.  For, at the time, I thought I was alone in understanding how to pity these kind of relationships...yet here was a mother sitting in the pew in front of me, sentiently enjoying the loving of her Down child.
