Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray. Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. Mark 6:45-47 NIV
Our Lord needed quiet time, time away from all the noise and clatter that surrounded Him. Our Lord needed time to commune with the Heavenly Father. Today is no different in that we are surrounded, bombarded by noise and clatter in this world. How can we overcome this and not fall victim to it all? The Lord calls our name. The Lord urges us to come to Him, to find rest in Him. We need time alone with God. The noise and clatter of this world is distracting and keeps us away from hearing the truth which God wishes us to know. Only through God can we have the spiritual nourishment we need to carry out the work of God’s kingdom. Spend time everyday in quiet communion with God. Be attentive to what He has to say to you. Then carry out that which He tells you.
