“How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.” Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand. Mark 6:38-44 NIV
When we have an issue or a problem facing us, do we not consider what resources we have available to deal with the situation? If we realize that we are woefully short of what would be required to resolve the issue, do we then approach the Lord in prayer, maybe even letting Him know what resources we have available. Do we not realize that when we truly approach the Lord, lack of resources is no longer an issue? Do we approach in faith, knowing that if it is the Lord’s will, our situation will be resolved? And, if doing all that, our situation does not become better, do we remain faithful to the Lord, realizing that His will is what we really need? Just as Jesus fed the 5000 men, along with women and children on that day, He will nourish us in the manner needed if we will just turn to Him in faith.
Yes, we are given resources to use to help us through life, but there are times when we need to turn to the Lord to provide that which we do not have. Spend time with Him each day in prayer. He provides!
