Moving On To Other Villages

Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. Mark 1:36-39 NIV

Where is Jesus? Everyone was looking for Him, and why not? He had cured many of multitudes of inflictions. He had taught a new message from God. The people of Capernaum wanted more of what this man offered. So the disciples went looking for Him. When they reported to Jesus that all were looking for Him, the Savior said that they must head onward to another place. The Good News was not a message exclusively meant for Capernaum. Jesus knew His time of ministry was short, and much needed to be accomplished before He made the ultimate sacrifice. So they traveled on to other villages in Galilee, and Jesus taught in the synagogues, also healing many who were afflicted.

The Lord, full of love and compassion shared God’s word with many and returned many to sound physical health. How many souls were won to the Lord through His trips through these villages? We do not know. Jesus did that which the Father sent Him to do. Those who had open hearts turned to Him, while those focused on earthly matters would not have room for Him in their hearts. Jesus came to share the Good News and to make the ultimate sacrifice to save mankind. Thank Him for all He has done for you!
