Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35 NIV
We can learn a few things from this simple scripture verse.
First, Jesus knew the importance of prayer, communicating with His Father. How important do we consider prayer to be in our life? Do we pray regularly, or just when we have a need or wish to say thank you for something received? Remember that prayer is our communication with God.
Secondly, much of our prayer should be done in a solitary place. From the moment our eyes open in the morning until they close at night we are constantly bombarded by things of this world. How can we properly communicate with God if we are being bombarded by distractions? Sure, we can pray while on the go, but there needs to be time in a quiet place for communication between us and God.
I also believe that it is important to have time for prayer before much happens to our day. It is too easy to put off prayer. We should seek time for it, and early, before our day really gets going. Pray throughout the day as well, and before going to bed. God should be our most trusted friend, and we need to devote a proper amount of time to Him. Let’s learn a lesson from this short passage of scripture.
