Amazed At His Teaching

They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. Mark 1:22-23 NIV

The elders taught about the laws of God and made-made traditions and such. Lacking was a relationship, a connection between God and that which He had created. Jesus spoke of a loving God, a God who wants a personal relationship with His creation. By Christ we are provided the way to the Heavenly Father. Jesus spoke with authority. People could sense it in His speech and His actions. This was certainly not present in the teachings of the elders. Jesus taught that one must repent, and come to Him, and then they would find true meaning to life through believing in Him. The people were astonished as they had never heard teaching with such authority before. But it was as Christ Himself had said….the kingdom of God had come near. May God’s kingdom be near to you always. May you always be in the love and saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
