I apologize for what I said this morning
I guess I was just having a bad day
It was early and I needed my coffee
My harse words just came out that way.

The reason I’m telling you that I’m sorry
I was impressed by something you said
You smiled and told me “Good morning”
I thought maybe you were messing with my head.

I had expected your retaliation
But you treated me as though we were friends
I felt bad that I had acted so ugly
And now I just want to make amends.

I know what I said was very wrong
And I am glad you chose to not to fight
If you had we would both be in trouble
Because two wrongs will never make a right.

I assume you were teaching me a lesson
And it’s a lesson I remember as a child
But sometimes we all need reminders
It’s better to fight anger with a smile.
