When I learn to say ‘No’

A ‘No’ for a cause that may lead to harm,

Lord give me the courage to take this stand,

Help me to learn to say a ‘No’

And effectually execute my given errand

Often I’ve seen that I did consent,

Under pressure or in a desire to please,

To avoid all frowns and displeasures,

Shamefully compromised the truth with ease

You look to me O blessed Lord,

Encouraging me with power from above,

That I may stand for Thy blessed truth,

And exhibit rightfully Thy Agape love

I may in doing this be termed ‘a rebel’

And may win the displeasure of even loved ones

Yet even if from their affinity they may expel,

Help me to stand for the Truth O ‘Holy One’

The taste of truth may for now seem bitter,

And senseless may be this choice to say ‘No’

Yet when the results of it are seen and felt

Proud shall You be for this choice I know

So Lord, help me to say,

A ‘No’ to all that’s vile

And when for this the world may frown,

For sure on Your face there will be a smile.
