Sabbath 2/2/19 Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Pastor Ken sermon “Put On the New Man” Ephesians 4:1-32
A Gentile is a non-Jewish person. We are to no longer walk as Gentiles that don’t believe in God or Jesus. We are not Jewish, we are not Gentiles but we are Christians. We believe in Jesus Christ. No longer walk like other Gentiles.
*Futility of mind = they have confused minds when it comes to Spiritual things. They make themselves idols and then worship them. *Darkness of understanding = they pull the shade down so they can’t understand the Gospel. They don’t have Jesus so they have no understanding. They are excluded from the life of God. They are ignorant because they choose to be ignorant. They know everything but they choose to Sin. They continue to Sin over and over again because they don’t want to hear Spiritual things. They give themselves to greediness and sensuality. They want everything to do with the World system. Money and Sensuality go together.
Apostle Paul says this is the way we were but now we are different. We have learned Christ and we are New People as Christians. New Christians have to learn the ways of Christ Jesus. The Christian life is a journey. We have Truth in Jesus. The angel had said Jesus will save his people from their Sins. Paul wants us to focus on Jesus coming down to be a man to die on the Cross for us. Jesus, as a human, was tempted like us and He knows our infirmities.
We are different as Christians because we have Jesus. We are to lay aside our old self and follow Jesus always. Let the Sprit renew your mind. Renew your mind in Christ Jesus. Be ye transformed by the Spirit. Let the Holy Spirit transform your mind so people don’t know you anymore because they only know your old nature. We need to be in our right minds. That only happens when the Holy Spirit does it. We have to put on the New Man.
The New Man we get from God. It is a command from God and we must make a decision to put on the New Man. The New Man is created in Righteousness and Holiness. Our mind has changed and we have God’s nature. We are no longer dominated by Sin nature. Our body becomes a Temple of God. We act like the Temple of God because we are dominated by the New Self. The New Self we get from God and the Holy Spirit.
We are to reflect God’s nature when the New Man is upon us. We reflect the Righteousness and Holiness of God. We no longer live like other Gentiles but are transformed in our minds. We put off the old man and put on the New Man. We pray this today in Jesus Name.
