Sabbath 1/26/19 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater Pastor Keith sermon “Trust in Jesus” John 14:1-6
Many of us have days that things just don’t work out right. Bad things on a bad day. It’s like whatever you do, it gets worse and worse. This is how things were going for the disciples. The happy crowd that welcomed Jesus soon turned against Jesus. The Pharisees were seeking to kill him too. Jesus knew all the things that were about to take place. Judas would betray Him, Peter would deny Him. The Pharisees would have a secret night trial and Jesus would be crucified in the morning. Three days later He would rise again. Jesus said for us to Trust in His Presence, Trust in His Promises and Trust in His Person.
Jesus said to trust in God and Jesus’s promises. God has a plan and we need to just trust in the Lord. The things we see are temporary and the only permanent things we have is God and Jesus Christ. Our aging bodies are temporary and only here for a little while. Then they will be gone. Remember Jesus has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us.
Jesus is going to prepare a place for us in God’s kingdom. This promise will be fulfilled. God promised that He’s coming back for us. We must wait on God because when He sends Jesus back to get us, we will be taken to the father’s house. It is Home. Home is where we are residents, where we belong and where we can kick off our shoes. Jesus said in my father’s house there are many mansions. The word “mansions” is also translated as rooms. Jesus said He will go and prepare a place for us. Jesus sticks to His promises.
Jesus said He is the way, the truth, the light and we can ONLY get to the Father through Jesus. He will come, get us and take us to God’s house. We need to trust in Jesus’s presence that He will always be with us forever. We all go thru battles in this world. But not matter how battered, disfigured or scarred we get, God will love us. Jesus will always be for us. Trust in the promises of the Lord. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus Christ the Son of the Almighty God!!
