Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. Romans 10:1-4 NIV
One could be zealous for God, yet not be knowledgeable about His righteousness. This would then cause one to try and establish their own righteousness, falsely believing it was that of God. God’s righteousness comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other way. How often we believe we know that which God wishes us to do. We can wind up setting God aside and proceed with our own agendas. This is not a good idea. We must wholly submit ourselves to God. We must let go of self and our perceived ideas, and really allow God to be in full control. Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. We are made righteous before the heavenly Father only through His Son. Be zealous for God but be sure it is by totally submitting to Him. You cannot do it of your own will or intentions. God loves the humble and meek.
