Lord God,

Your Word commands us to pray for those who have authority over us,

Which includes praying for our government and our nation’s leaders,

So Lord, I pray that you would raise up the right leaders for our country,

And that you would provide a way for more Christians to enter government,

Please help them to lead our country well,

Give them the strength and wisdom they need to make difficult decisions,

Help them to uphold justice in all that they do,

And to care for those in need in our communities,

Please help them to lead with integrity and honesty,

And guard them against all corruption,

Help our leaders not to misuse their power for selfish gain,

But to focus on using their power to serve the people,

Please help our government to uphold all religious freedoms,

So that your people would continue to be able to worship you freely,

I pray also that you would grow the unity in our government,

That where there is quarrelling and divisions between leaders,

You would bring peace and reconciliation,

And that you would strengthen these leaders to listen to and respect one another’s views,

In order to work well together for the good of our country.
