Abundant Gifts

Today we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Just as the wise men brought gifts to the new born baby, so we too share gifts with family and friends.

 Do we spend time focusing on the abundance of gifts provided to us by God? Today is certainly a day during which we should reflect upon them. The list below is not an exhaustive list, but, does provide proof that we are provided an abundance of gifts by our Creator.

1. Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The heavenly Father sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to live among us as a man. Yes, God truly living amongst mankind. Christ came that we might be taught about God and His will for us. In the fullness of time, Christ died for us that we might be saved from our sins.


2. The Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God indwelling us. What a truly amazing gift! The Holy Spirit provides us with spiritual awareness that is not available from any other source. The Holy Spirit also directs us in the pathway of the Lord.


3. God’s love. There is no love which can possibly compare to the love of God. We search for love, often in the wrong places, but with God’s love we have the love which cannot be surpassed.


4. A new life. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we begin a new life, a life not lived for our own selfish desires, but a life lived for fulfilling the desires of the Lord for us. We are freed from enslavement to the evil of this world with its lustful desires.


5. Awareness of God’s grace. God pours down grace upon us. We certainly do not deserve the grace which is shown toward us, yet God chooses to provide it anyway. It is God’s nature to show grace to us. What a wonderful gift.


6. True joy. Is it not wonderful when we feel joy within? God provides a joy which far exceeds any joy that the world provides. At best worldly joy is short lived. God’s joy is eternal to those who believe in Jesus Christ.


7. A peace which the world cannot comprehend. Worldly peace does not last long and can dissipate very quickly. God’s peace is a peace which the world cannot understand because it does not know nor acknowledge God.


8. The Word of God. God’s word is given to us in the Holy Bible. We should read His Word daily, reflect upon it, and put it into practice.

 Who else besides God could provide such an overwhelming abundance of gifts? I know that this was very short. Take time today to be in the presence of the Lord. Reflect upon these beautiful gifts given to us. Read God’s word today. Spend time in prayer with God. Let Him know of your dependence upon Him and your need for Him in your life. Merry Christmas to all, and may you always be blessed in the Lord.
