Lord God,

In my time of deepest sorrow and hopelessness,

Please be my comfort, peace and strength,

Please be my place of safe refuge and hope,

When I am tempted to feel like everyone else would be better off without me,

Help me to realise that my death will have serious consequences for others,

And will only bring my family and friends grief and sorrow,

When it feels like nobody else understands me,

I pray that you would remind me of your love for me and that you are always with me,

Please remind me that you understand all of the suffering that I am going through,

And that you will never let me down, even if everyone else does,

Please remind me of those who still love and care for me,

I pray for the wisdom, courage and strength to seek the help that I need,

Whether it’s being honest to someone I can trust about any suicidal thoughts I am having,

Or even seeking professional help,

And when it feels like life is completely pointless,

Please give me reasons to keep on living,

Open my eyes anew to the beauty of your creation,

Open my eyes to see that each new day is an amazing gift from you,

And that your plans for my future are more wonderful,

Than anything that I can perceive or even imagine right now,

Please remind me that my hope in Christ is not just about having new life in the future,

But that it is also about experiencing new life in the present,

A life that I can live in relationship with you and in the joy of knowing that I am saved,

As I wait for the day when your kingdom will come in all its fullness,

A day where all suffering, pain, sorrow, brokenness and evil,

Will be replaced by the great joy of being in the presence of your glory forevermore,

And when I am tempted to just give up,

Help me to hold on Lord and please don’t give up on me,

I pray for your strength to get me through the end of this day,

And help me to trust that I will experience your mercies and grace anew tomorrow.
