This evening I engaged with a long distance friend about a very influential figure in my life.  This man has been instrumental in teaching thousands about improving their businesses, improving their copywriting and how to develop out-of-the box thining when it comes to solving various problems in the competitive world of marketing and business.

I started off by quoting extensively from Mr. Abraham's excellent book Getting Everything You Can Out of All You've Got" which is a very affordable way of understanding this man's mindset or strategic thinking.

Did I say affordable?

Yes, because many of Jay's books cost $500 to $1000.  He's perhaps the highest paid marketing consultant in the world but this didn't mean anything to my friend who says he has a business and needs no help but he actually has more of a job than he does a business since he doesn't make any money unless he's doing the work.   My friend does need help if he wishes to advance to a higher level.

It doesn't appear I made much progress with my friend, who by the way, is still single after about 62 years with no prospects in sight so far as I'm aware.  We've also talked about this and why his local Christian brethren aren't helping him in this regard.  He isn't doing what he could to find his special soul mate and somehow believes if it is God's will that he gets married it will somehow happen.  True enough but God doesn't usually give us what we are not seeking and do not want earnestly.  But that's another story altogether.

This friend somehow believes a person must be a Christian in order to dispense their life work or expertise to others who are presumably Christians.  On this we disagree.  What do you think?    Well, here goes the correspondence.

Me- Make the most out of what you've got...Develop what Jay Abraham calls

the optimum personal business, and career strategy.  What's this mean?
It means that yo must refuse to get less out of an effort, less out of an opportunity,
less out of a day, less out of a dollar, less out of a relationship, then the maximum that activity or action has the capacity to give you.  It means that you don't do things just to be doing them.  That you insist on playing life to the fullest.  But playing it based on your sense of value.

You have to figure out who it is you are and what it is you want.  That's critical because most people I meet don't have a clue of where they're going in life and what they want life to give them.  Any success, any fulfillment, any joy,. any prosperity, any goodness, they get is almost accidental.
Life has the capacity to give you, in your career or business, and especially in your personal life, everything you ever wanted and then some.  Multiples of that, in fact.  But you can't have any of it if you don't know where you are going.  And what you want out of the experience.  You need to ask, who am I?  What do I want?  What makes me happy?  What doesn't? where is my strength, where is my weakness?
Where can I make the greatest contribution in my life, in my job, in my business, in my relationships?

To some people, making money may be a real thrill.  You may only want to make enough money to have the time to enjoy it.  You may not care about material things.  Other people may want all the material things.  I'm not passing judgement.  What I'm saying is you can't have what you want until you first know what it is.  And you can't know what it is until you really first realize what success means to you.

I met a man who shuttled me around in an airport one time.  He had to be absolutely one of the happiest people I've ever met.  He had a girlfriend.  He had no material interst.  They had an apartment in a clean part of town.  They worked very hard all day, but they didn't want their business problems to come home with them.  After 5 is when they really enjoy life at the highest level.  That's great for some people.  Other people love the excitement of business and make it an integral part of their personal life.  The are one and the same.

Your first priority is to identity what you want and then make sure you take the path that is going to give you that.  There's nothing sadder than to see someone get to be 75 or 80 years old and look back regrettably because they pursue the wrong target.  For you,  I want every day to be a day of joy and enrichment that advances you to the maximum along the success path you want to pursue.  And whatever you define as enjoyment and enrichment.  Are you richer than you think?  I think you are.  You're many times richer than you think, and I wrote this book to share with yousome of the simplest but most powerful ways you'll ever come across to maximize your life, your career, your business, and your relationships.  At the very least, I hope the process in the tools we've covered will help you achieve everything you've ever wanted or will want.  I hope you'll take what I've shown you to a much higher level of application and enrichment than I even I have.  That's what I'm expecting.  Because that's the reason I'm sharing this powerful performance and information with you.  With that stated, let the game begin.  From the book "Getting Everything You Can Out Of All You've Got" by Jay Abraham-marketing genius

Friend-And when these guys have no value on the LORD JESUS CHRIST??  All their efforts are TOTALLY MEANINGLESS!!

I notice the word "my" used a lot.  My job...my life, my relationship...my business...my strength...based on my sense of value.  Just a bit self-centered is it not?  This guy is quite the humanist. Hmmmm...this is the exact opposite of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Me- Again your thinking is off base and misses the point.  Mr Abraham doesn't claim to be a prophet or an evangelist.  But those who know him well admit that he's a marketing genius and a very good copywriter.  He can help any small business like yourself earn more money with less effort tapping into your undiscovered resources.

A man doesn't have to be a Christian to be able to help you with this.  In fact this man can help you more than most Christians can in this area because most Christians don't understand marketing very well.  Consider this: You want a house constructed so you go to the best architect there is and the best landscaper because you see the many happy people...happy clients who've enjoyed their homes and have appreciated the value this person brings into their life.  That person may not be a Christian.  So what?  Are you going to settle for inferior service or are you going to go to the best because after all you want the best.
Remember you're not going to this person like Jay Abraham to find out what the Bible says or to get his commentary on certain scriptures.  You're going to him because he knows how to help you grow your business better than anybody else in the world.  Which is why he charges $100,000 per day.  His old rate used to be $5,000 per hour...up from $3,000/hr.

Friend- He has nothing I desire whatsoever.  Look Carlton, I told you before, I've been down this road already.  It's a DEAD END!!!

Me- Robert if you think in negative terms you will often get negative results.  If you think in positive terms you will often achieve positive results.
You must count the cost as Jesus said for which of you , intending to buld a tower, sit not down first, and counted the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

If you're not willing to learn then you will never be saved.

Such a man you can tell nothing to because he already knows it.  You can show him no doctrine he hasn't already heard.

Such, I fear, is the case with you...very desperate.

Let him that thinketh he stands take heed lest he fall.

Women do not like negative, critical thinking...always looking for the evil and the reasons
why something doesn't work.  Stop living in fear.

Perfect love casts out fear.  Have more love Robert.

Friend-  Carlton you're perceiving, at least you think I'm thinking negative but I'm not doing that even remotely.  You have embraced the Dr. Robert Schuller Norman Vincent Peale  The Power of Positive Thinking philosophy.  Now you see what I mean about those wonderful counselors so you takin to slippping in those things that will pull you the wrong direction.  Very subtle.  That's why I stopped taking martial arts.  In martial arts every single move has a religious connotation to it.  People try to pretend that it's not there but it is definitely there.  And it's the same way in the stuff you have gotten deeply involved in.  Your swallowed into it and don't even realize it.  Like I told you multiple times before I've been down this road you're not listening.  You have chosen the hard way well and I'm not thinking negative.  The adversary has convinced us that that luscious fruit is so nice.

me.-There is such a thing called Divine possibility thinking.  No, I reject most of Robert Schuller and Norman Vince Peale's philosophy.  Not everything they believed was in error.  Peale was a good Hegelian and perhaps didn't know it.

Remember what the apostle Paul said:  "Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good."

Did you know you're settling for only a fraction of what you're capable of?  You must make up your mind what you really desire.  What are your goals? What do you think about most of the time?  Are you thinking about ways to lose money or make money?

Are you dwelling on fear and negativity?

The problems we solve tomorrow will be the result of what we are constructively working out in our minds today.

We do become what we think about most of the time.

Not all the time or else 16 year old boys would  become beautiful women and fat people would become skinny...lol

By the way when are you going to write your book?  What book you ask?  Well we all have a book within us and I suspect you're no different.

I want you to sit down for 15 or 20 minutes and write some of the things that took place in your younger years...the challenges that you overcame...the obstacles.

In other words those that were turned into opportunities...the people that you met that affected your life for the good.  What were some of the books you read in your teen years or your twenties.

Now think about this.  You may have 25, 35, 45 years left to live.  How many books could you write that will change the world?...that will change another person's life?

Get to work my friend.  Life is short but full of purpose.

I've written a book I should probably publish it this year and stop delaying.

Friend-You are not speaking in terms of perfect love even remotely.  You're speaking in the philosophy of Norman Vincent Peal and Dr. Robert Schuller which is a narcissistic, self-centered, self-seeking philosophy.  I'm shocked that you are blind to it.

Is this the way you always spoke with brother Chris?

Me-Have you ever seen a psychiatrist?  The reason I'm askingis beause you display some signs of cognitive dissonance.

Friend-You say I have inconsistent thinking??  Yet you believe in Norman Vincent Peale and Robert Schuller's positive thinking?  That is the total opposite of God's word.

Me- No, I said not everything they said was wrong or in error which doesn't mean I believe in everything they said.  Again the Biblical principle is prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Friend-They speak half-truths a half truth is a falsehood.  That's exactly what the adversary would have you believe.

Me-Can you be more specific on some of the half-truths that they spoke?  Do you have their books in your library?  Maybe you can pull one off the shelf and read what you disagree with to me.

It's easy to listen to other people's criticism of something.  Don't be so easily influenced.  Decide for yourself based upon your own tests or proofs.

Remember what Ralph Waldo Emerson said:  "In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn of him."

Interesting....that quote came from a very intelligent man but he was by no means a friend to Calvinism or Christianity.

Friend- It's not a matter of my opinion.  It's a matter of what God's word says.  They blatantly  deny Christ.

Me- Do you have a minute to chat?

Friend-There's nothing to chat about Carlton.  Goodnight.  I'm going to bed.

Me- Well, then be sure to read the review I sent you on "The Strangest Secret".

Remember only a few will succeed in life.  Will you be one of them?  Will you be one of the 100 who is financially independent upon retirement?
