Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him. Matthew 27:27-31 NIV

Just before Jesus is lead away to be crucified, the Roman soldiers feel like they must get into the act too, with a mockery worship. They dress Him in a scarlet robe, denoting royalty. They then decide that He needs a crown, but, it must be a crown of thorns. Hitting Him on the head with the staff which they had placed in His hands just continued the mockery. What a treatment to receive just before being crucified.

A king is a ruler. Who is the king, the ruler of your heart? Is it money, fame, material items? Or is it the Lord, Jesus Christ? The Lord saved us from eternal destruction. But, we must accept Him into our lives, accept the forgiveness offered through Him. It will not be forced upon us. We must come before the King of Kings with a humble and repentant heart.

Those who make a mockery of the Kingship of Christ shall face a torment that none would truly want. Worship the King of Kings. Give Him praise and honor and glory.
