My Thoughts on Healing and Revival

Most of the churches I’ve gone to have had healing as a core value. Only one didn’t.

So, I was watching a testimony from a church I was a part of many years ago. Some woman won the faith battle with cancer. Many people in that church get healed because they teach on it constantly. While I was there, I got tons of healings through my faith and other’s. I went there NOT to learn about healing but because it also has a prophetic culture. As a bonus I got the training on more healing.

One thing I learned at the healing culture church was to not just drop a quick little ‘one minute’ prayer. That’s what a lot of people do. But when there is an urgency you stick around and press in. You ask after praying for a while, “Has anything changed?” If the answer is “No.” then you keep praying.

I will never forget a schizophrenic woman at a church I went to a decade ago. She got super serious about healing prayer. She went up to the altar for prayer after every service. I remember God showing me that one of her issues was pride. I knew that you can’t tell people they have pride. It doesn’t go well. So I prayed that she would humble herself. I looked for her every week to see if I could see a change and in six months she was totally free. I was one of the many intercessors who prayed for her. There were also hour long prayer appointments at that church and she went there as well. The thing is that she wanted it so bad. It made me want to fight for her.

That’s what happens with serious prayer mixed with continuous prayer. Needless to say, I think I got about 7 years of training in inner healing and physical healing. It wasn’t just for myself though. I prayed for others.

My mom has been healed of three different kinds of cancer and my uncle came out of a coma and he’s walking and talking. It’s because God revealed to me what prophetic acts to do and what to proclaim. When my dad was on his death bed I prayed for him until I got the revelation that he wanted to go home to Heaven. You don’t pray for people who want to leave.

The funny thing is that it isn’t my passion nor my calling but I believe in healing. I am just saying this because I believe everyone Christian should learn how to pray for healing. Healing will come to anyone after a lot of practice and seeing people get healed. Some people think it comes from an anointing. I think it comes from actually praying for many people.

So, I am rather confused when people call something a revival meeting because I have seen tons of healings. It just was taught differently. And I have had several teachers who spoke about identity and the transformed life and the manifested sons of God and high calling. So, this isn’t new to me.

 I realize that there are a ton of churches that don’t have much revelation on the mature things of God but there surprisingly are a number of churches that do. Is it me or do I just know a ton of people who walk in the deeper things of God? I don’t have a designated evangelistic or healing ministry but my idea of a life with God is to just flow with God.

When I read about Esther I became aware of her beauty process which included myrrh (symbolic of dying to yourself). The Shulemite spoke about the North wind (difficult times) and the South wind (good times) and she also had a bag of myrrh. The priestly anointing recipe has myrrh and some other ingredients that explain the process of anointing.  Calamus symbolizes how God makes you sweet. That’s usually through trials. Olive oil is about a crushing that you go through for purification. Cinnamon symbolizes healing.

Preachers teach about ‘the process’ but most don’t direct you to any scripture. You are truly ready for ministry when you are a mixture of sweet, pure, healed and live the resurrected life.

For me, I know revival is in a Christian community when people have conflict they can do Matthew 18:15-17.

Revival is a community that helps out people in financial need.

Revival is being able to share your issues and knowing that others have your back in prayer and in heart.

That’s what true revival is. The healing is the tip of the iceberg. The maturing is where the true revival is at.
