It wasn’t Smith Wigglesworth who got me to stop watching TV. Neither was it my former pastor with the gift of healing. He was inspired by Wigglesworth. It was my college art teachers who told us to actually get a life instead of imitating life. By imitating life they meant only going to art shows and looking at art to get creative inspiration.

It was great advice to any artist or even any human being for that matter. Besides, going to college doesn’t leave much time for TV Land or the drama on the big screen. Yet there were some films recommended and that’s how I ended up watching Elizabeth.

It could have been Kate Blanchett’s acting that drew me to her character. I began to read more about this good queen who brought prosperity, peace, and an artistic renaissance to England. Shakespeare was her contemporary and I’m quite certain his plays were inspired by all the conspiracies in that era.

I find it fascinating that Elizabeth was a princess who was unlikely to sit on the throne. She had a brother from another mother and the crown went to the oldest male.

Lizzy was a daughter of the queen killer King Henry the 8^th. He had at least three wives. He thought his wives were the ones messing up his ability to have a son. And so Elizabeth’s mother, Anne Boleyn, was killed for her unfaithfulness... in giving Henry a male heir. Her mom was called the "Great Whore" and so Elizabeth was considered a bastard and de-princessed. She was kicked out of court.

Never-the less, the game of courtly chess was played out in her favor with three untimely deaths blows before Liz could reign.

She suffered from molestation in her childhood, and her lover even tried to assassinate her while she sat on the throne. Men were a problem. Except one who was her private counselor. But she proclaims that she has commited herself to her country and her God.

But the most pivotal moment was when she was told she was the new queen. She quoted Psalm 118:23 This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. As I watched her being crowned it was as if a light shown on her.

So I ask you to think of a time, or those times when something happened to you that was unexpected that caused you to pause…and say: This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

There was a time I was asked to lead a team of artists to make murals in the kid’s ministry. I was a newbie Christian. I asked why and they said: You are the only one who has a vision.

There were moments when key writing assignments were given to me when there actually were others who had higher earthly qualifications and experience. The drama behind the scenes was no small thing and I tried to pass the assignment to them. But the leader said: No, it is your assignment. 

So it goes, because of how God has anointed us, that He leads us in paths of righteousness. We only see the step in front of us, but then we surprisingly step into that door of destiny. We step into something BIG.

It happened to Trump and it can happen to you.

Those other doors that slammed in our face us. Those ones that hurt so bad. They now lose their sting in light of the crown. They may have been a part of the training but now we understand that there was indeed something better that we couldn’t see. So we let go and say: This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. In fact, before it happens, we say: It is marvelous in our eyes.
