Preparation For the Final Meal

On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. Matthew 26:17-19 NIV

Notice that the Lord did not specifically tell the disciples where they would be making the Passover meal. Instead, He gave them instructions to follow, which, in doing so would reveal the answer to their question. Why did He do this? For one thing, He wanted to show them that which He said to them was true, and would be fulfilled.

Do you ever ask Christ for something, and don’t get a direct answer, but, are lead to do something which you do not understand the reason for so doing? I bet the answer to this is “Of course!” Our requests in prayer are answered, more times than not, just not in the manner we are seeking. Why? Our faith and perseverance might need to be tested. Also, we often don’t fully understand that for which we ask, and the fulfillment of the request might not be in our best interest. Also, God knows the best way to answer a prayer request, while we do not know the best way.

Do make requests to God in prayer. Make sure they are for His glory. Do so humbly. And watch for answers, being aware that they quite possibly will come in a manner you do not expect.
