What does God mean? Who is He talking about and is He being partial?
Various Bible verses correlate  and explain 1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation , his own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light... 1 Peter 2:9

Amos 3:2

Exodus 19:5  a people set apart and reserved for a special purpose (Ephesians 1:7)
Psalm 105:15


Peter uses language which has been earlier used to describe God's physical, set apart people in the beginning and the relationship He had with them.
The church as the bride of Christ is a chosen race, a family made up of peoples disregarding ethnicity, colour, country of origin and all other segregating  distinctions made up by 'intelligent'man!
For the natural mind does not understand the things of the spirit of God- 'these are a spiritual people called out and set apart for a unique purpose , bound by blood in Jesus Christ and related through their spiritual father; God the Father!
These ones pledge allegiance  ONLY to Him, declaring His praise, morning , noon and night.
