Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains." Matthew 24:4-8 NIV
With today’s advancements in technology, we are made aware of what transpires in all areas of this world. We constantly are bombarded by actions of wars, threats of war, nation rising against nation, and many other forms of evil. It seems like this is what we want to hear, or at least it is perceived that this is what we want to hear about. What about the good things that happen, a kind deed done, a blessing bestowed? These just don’t seem to be the items that “sell.” Oh, and yes, there are reports of famines and earthquakes throughout the world.
As Jesus tells us, these are the beginnings of birth pains. This is not the end. The end is still to come. Do not let yourself be deceived. Do not allow yourself to be taken away from the calling the Lord has bestowed upon you. We are to share the Good News. We cannot allow this world, and those who belong to it, to deceive us, keeping us from working on the harvest.
Keep your eyes focused on Christ, and not on this world.
